Crowdin.com?

Postby riadd » Mon Mar 27, 2017 1:47 pm

Hello, to support you with the translations we're thinking about using crowdin.com. That page would make it easier to share the translation work across multiple people and give an easy overview of the current state. It should also make adding or changing text entries in the future easier. Has anybody gained experience with that page already? Any thoughts on it?

Looking for any feeback here. Thanks!

Hi

No feedback here, i've questionned my friends (who translate). No one used it!

But my opinion is if it's more simple for us (translator) and more simple for you (developers) and if the tool is good. Why not :D

Hello everyone,
I didn't use Crowdin to translate anything but I'm tracking the translations for Showpare from time to time (https://crowdin.com/project/shopware) and created a test project once. Maybe the pricing is not very attractive. You can get nearly the same for free by using Zanata (https://translate.zanata.org).

I guess it would be a great help for the translators and the community.

Pootle (http://pootle.translatehouse.org/index.html) could be an alternative if you want to be indipendent (self hosted).

Hello, I've created a crowdin project to make collaborating on the translation easier. This way you won't have to manually sync files yourself. Also we have an easier way to verify and update the texts. We're still in trial mode for this new system, so please let us know what you think or what you are missing and what we need to improve.

You should be able to upload your existing translation by changing the format to csv. Simple replace the '=' by a ',' and put texts before and after the '=' in quotation marks '"'. For example this

Code: Select all
xxx=yyy

becomes

Code: Select all
"xxx","yyy"

If you need help with uploading your current translation progress you can also just send your file to me (riad@curiuos-expedition.com) and will do the conversion for you. Looking forward to your feedback!

Hello people, I was thinking of returning to the Spanish traslation of the game (we have a long weekend in Spain soon, so I have free time again. Hurray!), so I was looking how crowdin works, and a question came to my mind. Looking the English texts of the game, I saw that some sentences begin with the symbol "§"

An example of the use of the symbol on the text:

evt-angry-demandPayment-report-1=§The greedy rapscallion, $name, had abandoned our trek.

So my question is about if it is necessary to mantain the symbol "§" in the translation or we can freely erase it.

We might rework that system in the future, but for now you should keep the § in the text. As far as I can tell the Spanish version should be ready though.

Any help with improvements and proof reading is highly appreciated :)

Not at all. From what I've seen, it remains more or less like it was when I left. A lot of things are already translated, like the UI, the items, the perks, the ailments, the explorers, the report, etc, but a lot of texts are still work in progress, especially the events. Well, the good part is that I will put myself to it soon again and I will advance something. ;)

Cool, let me know when you think the translation is ready, so that I know when to add it to the next release!
